The organisers said they were confident that the nine-month exhibition which opens in November at the Millennium Dome - now known as the O2 - will break the two million visitor mark. This would smash the modern record of 1.7 million visitors set at the British Museum by the first Tutankhamun exhibition in 1972. Only the Festival of Britain exhibition in 1951 and the Great Exhibition of 1852 are thought to have drawn bigger crowds. . . .
London will be a paradise for archaeological gems this autumn.
The British Museum is staging a show of exhibits from China's
famous 3rd century BC "terracotta army" from the tomb of Qin Shihuangdi, the
First Emperor of China.
