Exhibition: Reproductions of Tutankhamun

"When the Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show opens Friday, visitors can expect to see thousands of items for inside and outside the home -- everything from the latest in kitchen appliances to garden sheds, composite decking, and aluminum or iron fencing. But a King Tut museum? What's that got to do with your house or landscape? The reproduction King Tut burial mask, above, by the Egyptian Art Center of Cairo is among objects that will be part of the King Tut Museum at the Home & Garden ShowClick photo for larger image. Not much, confesses John DeSantis, the show's executive director and architect of the 6,000-square-foot exhibit of reproductions of Egyptian antiquities. But how often do you and your children get to see more than 250 pieces of ancient history up close?
The idea of a show-within-a-home-show is not as crazy as it may sound. Back in the old days, when this annual spring event was still held at the old convention center, the show often included some sort of special exhibition."
