Friends of the Petrie Museum 20th Anniversary

Yes, another ruthless plug for the Petrie. If you happen to be London-based, or have easy access to London, this would be a good event to take advantage of. Here's the announcement made by the Friends of the Petrie:

The Petrie Museum Friends are excited to announce the launch of our 20th Anniversary celebrations with a series of major events.

Our opening event will be a Twentieth Anniversary Conference: Tutankhamun, the Making of a Legend with Professor David Silverman, Curator of 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs' currently showing at the O2 in London.

This high-profile event will take place on Saturday May 31st 2008 at the Bloomsbury Theatre, Gordon Street, London WC1H 0AH.

Professor Silverman is serving as the national curator, advisor and academic content creator for 'Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs'. In 1977 he was in charge of curatorial content for the "Treasures of Tutankhamun" at Chicago's Field Museum, so the current exhibition brings him full circle.

Dr. Silverman is the Eckley B. Coxe, Jr. Professor and Curator at the University of Pennsylvania. He also is the chairman of the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations and the curator-in-charge of the Egyptian collection at the University of Pennsylvania Museum.

There is no-one better qualified to lecture on this topic. This will be a rare opportunity to hear this passionate and highly distinguished Egyptologist lecture in this country.

Tickets will go on sale in a few days at the Bloomsbury Theatre Box Office, call them on +44 (0)20 7388 8822 or book online at www.thebloomsbury.com
