Improve your knowledge on Alexander the Great

702 ABC Sydney

This is rather a fun idea - a series of online "self improvement" lessons, each available in MP3 or Real Media formats, and delivered by a specialist in a specific field. There's a recommended reading list if you want to pursue the subject further, and there is even a quiz at the end to test your learning! Lesson 81 is "Alexadner the Great".

Our teacher this week is Dr. Chris Forbes, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Ancient History at Macquarie University. He taught in State secondary schools for two years before taking up a Postgraduate Research Award at Macquarie in 1981, while also working part-time for the Australian Institute of Archaeology. He has lectured in Ancient History at Macquarie since 1987 and his teaching and research interests include New Testament History, Greek and Roman History of Ideas, Alexander the Great, and the Hellenistic age. His current research is in the field of the relationship between religion and philosophy in Graeco-Roman thought.
