Isle of Man issues new Egypt-themed coins

You will need to scroll down the page beyond the Paddington Bear story to get to the piece on the Egyptian themed coins.

Following the success of the world's first Pyramid coin launched in December last year, three more Tutankhamun coins have been issued.

A Scarab and Eye of Horus box set, £25.00, and the Tutankhamun Death Mask Pyramid, £15.00 are now available and are set to be as popular as the first.

The Scarab is one of the most stunning pieces of jewellery unearthed from Tutankhamun's tomb. The symbols that make up the Scarab design spell out Tutankhamun's throne name Nebkheperure, which translates as Lord of the Forms of Re. Horus, represented as the falcon-headed god, was an important god in Egyptian legend. The symbol representing his eye, Eye of Horus, was a powerful symbol used to protect from evil. And the Tutankhamun Death Mask is a triangular shaped coin presented in a full colour encapsulated display card and follows the great success of the Pyramid coin.

The Pyramid coin was the first part of a series which depicts the most wondrous artefacts unearthed in the young pharaoh's tomb in the Valley of the Kings by English archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
