La tercera visita a Djehuty

Thanks very much to "Tepsicore" for sending me the above link. The seventh season of work at the tomb of Djehuty in Luxor is taking place. Djehuty was a noble who had senior roles under the reign of Hatshepsut. The aim of the seventh season is to excavate the six-metre deep burial shaft, which will complete the excavation of the tomb.

En algún momento de esta semana, el filólogo y egiptólogo del CSIC José Manuel Galán empezará a excavar el pozo funerario de la tumba de Djehuty, un noble que ocupó altos cargos con la reina Hatshepsut, en el Antiguo Egipto. De seguir allí, lo cual es posible, a la momia de Djehuty no le faltarían motivos para quejarse de que así es complicado conciliar un eterno descanso. Será, probablemente, la tercera vez que su nicho es profanado en los últimos 3.500 años.

Excavar el pozo funerario, de más de seis metros de profundidad, y completar así la exploración de esta tumba es el propósito de la VII campaña arqueológica del Proyecto Djehuty, un trabajo científico de excavación, restauración y publicación de las tumbas de Djehuty y Hery, dos altos dignatarios de la corte que vivieron a comienzos de la dinastía XVIII.
