More re French excavations at Karnak

A relatively short piece saying that Zahi Hawass has extended the rights of the Franco-Egyptian Centre for the Study of the Temples of Karnak (CFEETK) to carry on excavating at Karnak, following forty years of excavation by the mission. Hawass was three hours late for the meeting, but the document was signed. The article goes on to say that in spite of the fact that the French had the challenge of working on a site that cannot be closed due to the thousands of visitors, this has not prevented their successful discovery of many new aspects of the site:
Ces handicaps n'empêchent pas les découvertes, comme la mise au jour, en 2005-2006, de la dyade de Neferhotep, une double statue déposée au fond de la fosse de fondation d'un des obélisques de la reine Hatshepsout. Autre résultat spectaculaire à mettre au compte des chercheurs égyptiens : la découverte, en avril, à l'occasion du réaménagement de l'esplanade située devant l'entrée du temple, de bains extrêmement bien conservés et d'un trésor de plus de 300 pièces datant du IIe siècle avant J.-C.
