Better late than never. This one dates back to early October, and I apparently missed it completely.

The promotion of the latest book by Dr Hieronim Kaczmarek "Poles in Egypt until 1914" took place on October 9 in the University Library in Poznań. The book's launch was organized as part of the 12th annual Poznań Science Book Days.

The author of the book is a senior lecturer in the Archaeology department of the History and Foreign Affairs Institute of the University of Szczecin. In his latest book, he precisely described Polish-Egyptian contacts that started in the 15th-16th centuries; amongst Poles in Egypt were doctors, merchants, musicians, missionaries, soldiers or engineers. A very interesting group were in fact breeders and traders of Arab horses. The author of the book has many interesting observations to make about Egypt and its ancient monuments, that he found in many essays, correspondence, letters and memoirs of Poles in Egypt.

Last year, Dr Hieronim Kaczmarek published the book "Egyptian sketches" - a collection of impressions from the journey to Egypt by Józef Kościelski (1845 - 1911) - a writer from Wielkopolska region, a politician and social worker". DráKaczmarek also included many valuable comments in the above mentioned book as well as wrote the introduction to it.
