(Top) Appliqué: Head of a Lion
Date (Period): ca. 380-342 BC (Late Period)
Medium: faience with light blue glaze
Measurements: 1 13/16 x 1 11/16 x 7/8 in. (4.7 x 4.2 x 2.2 cm)
Item Description:
This plaque was used as an attachment for a piece of furniture or a box. The head of the lion is carefully molded, and the structure of the mane incised. Lions were connected to the king, and were also a manifestation of the horizon.

Date (Period): ca. 380-342 BC (Late Period)
Medium: limestone
Measurements: 5 1/16 x 8 7/8 x 4 1/8 in. (12.8 x 22.5 x 10.4 cm)
Item Description:
This statuette of a resting lion was most probably used as a donation into a temple or shrine.
