Project to save remaining of Alexandria old lighthouse

Minister of Culture, Farouq Hosni agreed to form a joint Egyptian-French mission for rescuing the remaining of Alexandria old lighthouse. The old lighthouse was drawn in the north area near Alexandria Eastern port.

Dr. Zahi Hawas, General- Secretary of the Supreme Council of Antiquities said that step came after the great success of the antiquities expertise in preparing a scientific historical encyclopedia about Alexandria old lighthouse.

Dr. Ahmed Shoieb, Head of the Egyptian mission said that most of the lighthouse stones were discovered under the water of Alexandria Eastern port and the locations for the remaining stones will be identified. He added that the project will take 3 years.
