THE ANCIENT world met cutting-edge technology when an Egyptian mummy from the Royal Cornwall Museum had a CT scan.
Data from the scan at the Duchy Hospital will be used to recreate a face from what is now just a skull covered with dessicated flesh and skin.
The mummified remains of Iset Tayf Nakht, a priest, craftsman, husband and father who lived more than 2,500 years ago, have long been the Truro museum's most popular exhibit.
The recreated image of his head will feature alongside the original remains in a new permanent exhibition at the museum made possible by a £233,000 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
