Three day conference in Luxor

AllAfrica

The Ministry of Antiquities, in cooperation with the mission of the German Archaeological Institute, will organize a three-day international conference in Luxor on Saturday.

The conference's theme is the scientific modern techniques in preservation and maintenance of Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that for the past 3400 years (since 1350 BC) have stood in the Theban necropolis, across the River Nile from the modern city of Luxor.

A ceremony will be held on the sidelines of the conference marking the restoration of two statues of Amenhotep III and Queen Tiye.
