Tourism: 1.5 million Russian tourists visited Egypt in 2007

Egyptian tourism has succeeded in achieving its target in the current stage, said Tourism Minister Zoheir Garana in statements on the sidelines of the Russia's third International Trade Fair for Travel INTOURMARKET-2008 inMoscow Saturday15/3/2008 with Egypt as the honorary guest.

He added that a plan set to develop Egyptian tourism sector was going according to schedule.

Garana said the Egyptian tourism increased by 52% last year compared to a year earlier.

The number of hotel rooms in Egypt increased to 191,000 by the end of last year, the minister went on to say, adding that other 156,000 rooms are under construction.

Egypt attaches much attention to new kinds of tourism such as entertainment, conferences and incentive tourisms.

More than 1.5 million Russian tourists visited Egypt last year, the minister said, expecting that figure to go up in the coming stage.
