Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni has said that CT-scan results have ruled out that one of the newly discovered mummies in Luxor was that of ancient queen Nefertiti. A team of Egyptian archaeologists and researchers suggested that one mummy was of King Akhnaton. The same team recently discovered the mummy of Hatshepsut. Dr Zahi Hawwas, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, said the tests are part of a large-scale project to identify all discovered mummies believed to be that of the royal dynasties. He said the head of the research team, professor of radiology at Cairo University, has concluded that the newly discovered mummy of a young woman cannot be the beautiful queen Nefertiti. "Sophisticated CT-scan showed the opposite," he said.
