Report: Theban Mapping Project progress report
Theban Mapping Project (Kent Weeks)
Also available as aPDF (management plan only, not the report on KV5)
Kent Weeks reports on the work at KV5 and the development of a management plan for the Valley of the Kings.
The section dealing with the management plan is particularly interesting. It gives the background to the plan and highlights some of the many problems faced in the Valley together with some of the potential solutions. It gives a useful insight into how the complexities of managing such an important and busy site (now with up to 9000 visitors daily) are worked out and points out that problems arise not just from the tourism but also from the administration itself.
There's a site plan of KV5 and photos throughout the report.
