An exhibition of Egyptian antiquities entitled 'The Pharaohs" will open in about a fortnight's time in Madrid, having been shown at the Arab World lnstitute in Paris, said Zahi Hawass, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA). "The fair will run at the Art Centre in Madrid until July," he added. The Spanish side and the Permanent Committee of Fairs have agreed to display the same 120 antiquities that were shown at the Pharaohs Exhibition in Paris. The Spanish fair will exhibit two new items. The first is a wooden box that belonged to the father of Queen Tiy (the mother in law of Nefertiti, the wife of Amenhotep). "The second item is the upper part of a statue for Akhenaton, the son of Amenhotep, which replaces another statue," added Dr Wafaa el-Sediq, Director of the Egyptian Museum and Supervisor of the SCA External Fairs Committee. The exhibition, insured to the tune of US $222.9 million, is expected to make a profit of 330,000 euros".
