Andie update

As the blog is being maintained very efficiently by Ben this is not so much of a "blog update" as an Andie update! Hopefully I will be able to stop imposing so much on Ben in the next few weeks and start posting again so that he can use his valuable time on his own projects rather than trying to rescue mine :-)

I am back in London for the time being but am still not settled. I am returning to Wales for a few days next week, but I should be down in London again for Christmas and the New Year and for the rest of January. The good news from my point of view is that my father now has broadband at the house in Wales so I will be able to keep the blog going even when I'm there.

I have started posting again and will continue to do so as and when I can, with some items which don't appear to have been publicized very widely, or which are relevant to archaeology in general and may be of interest to those interested in Egyptology as well.

A piece of really good news for the blog comes from Bob Partridge, Editor of Ancient Egypt magazine, who has very kindly offered to keep me supplied for the time being with photographs that he has taken during his visits to Egypt. The first batch arrived earlier this week so I will look forward to using them to reinstate the Daily Photo slot, probably when I get back from Wales at the end of next week.

If you're wondering what the photograph on this post is all about, it was taken not far from the Gilf Kebir (southwest Egypt where it meets the borders of Libya and the Sudan). Right out in the middle of the desert a butterfly landed on my watch and started drinking water that I had spilled from my bottle. A truly surprising and lovely moment, and this photograph of it perched on my watch is a great memory of a super trip.

- Birthday Blog - A Personal Thank You
No news today except for the fact that the blog is 6 years old today and I am 46. Ouch! As a whole last year was a pretty horrid affair. and I was glad to turn my back it. My father celebrated the end of 2009 by breaking his ankle on New Year's Eve!...

- Blog - Looking For A Solution To A Couple Of Problems
This is something of a cry for help. 1) I am sure that most of you have noticed that whenever I go away the blog ceases to be updated for a while because I simply cannot keep up with it. It takes a minimum of an hour a day to update, and when I'm...

- Blog Update
Hi to All I'm back in London again. The blog has been backdated from last Wednesday (see below). North Wales was about as unlike Egypt as possible - very cold, very wet, very green and very hilly. I wore about 5 layers of clothing under a ski jacket...

- Blog Updates
I am off to Wales for a few days as from today (as you can see from the picture, just about as unlike Egypt as possible!), but I will be back by the end of the week. Depending on how I get on with the dial-up connection when I get there (it is usually...

- Apologies!!
A complete technical breakdown in the wilds of rural north Wales, and I found myself without an Internet connection for four days - so apologies that the blog has not been updated since last week. I will update it today with news items from the last few...
